Sayres Cracks Top 10 on Final Day of RMISA Championships

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Alaska Nanooks Nordic ski team finished up the RMISA Championships on Saturday, Feb. 29 with a seventh place team finish and a top-10 finish on the men's side. 
 
The women's team struggled on Saturday, with all six finishing past 25th place. The first Nanook to cross the finish line was Catherine Reed-Metayer, finishing 25th overall with a time of 53:41.5. Metayer grabber 15 points for the 'Nooks team score with that finish. The next finisher for Alaska was Anja Maijala, picking up 14 team-points and a finishing time of 54:18.3. The final scoring finish for the Nanooks was from Hannah Deuling. Deuling finisher 27th overall with a time of 55:17.2. 
 
The final Nanooks to round out the event were Sage Robine, Sarah Olson and Rya Berrigan. 
 
Over in the men's race, Tristan Sayre led the pack of 'Nooks, picking up an impressive top-10 finish, finishing 10th, racing a time of 58:32.9. Sayre's finish was good enough to pick-up 21 points for the Nanooks men's team. Mike Ophoff and Christopher Kalev followed close behind in 16th and 17th places, rounding out the team scoring on day two. 
 
Lukash Platil was the only other Nanook to crack the top-20, finishing 19th overall with a time of 1:00:43.7. Logan Mowry and Karl Danielson were the last two 'Nooks to finish, picking up 29th and 30th place finishes.
