MONMOUTH, Ore. – The mens and womens cross country teams traveled to Monmouth, Ore. to open up their 2019 season. The men placed eighth in their 15-team, 6K race with 202 total points and an average time of 20:11. The women took eighth in their 12-team, 4K race with 131 total points and an average time of 16:28.

The men were led by
Mike Ophoff who finished in 22
nd place with a total time of 19:20.53, the best time by a male GNAC representative. Following close behind Ophoff was
Logan Mowry who finished 34
th at a time of 19:49.75. Rounding out the men's race for the Nanooks were
Zephan Ozturgut, who finished 41
st with a time of 20:01.73,
Christopher Kalev, who finished 61
st with a time of 20:46.94 and finally Nathan Sanches who finished 67
th with a time of 20:56.40.
Jacob Walsh received a DNF for the 'Nooks.

With six total runners, the women Nanooks were led by redshirt-senior Alexandria Bergholtz who posted a 12
th place finish and a time of 15:43.9 in the women's 4K race. Two other Nanooks finished in the top 20.
Anja Maijala ran a time of 16:18.8 for an 18
th place finish and was followed up at 19
th place by
Noelle Resignolo who ran a 16:19.3.

The final three Nanook runners were
Rya Berrigan who took 37
th place with a time of 16:48.5,
Mariel Pulles who was 50
th with a time of 17:10.4 and
Maggie Meeds who finished 59
th and had a time of 17:29.8.

Both the men and women will return to Monmouth on Sept. 20 for the Sundowner Invite hosted by Western Oregon University.
