Cross Country
LAST WEEK: at Sundowner Invite | NEXT WEEK: at Charles Bowles Invite (10/5)
The Alaska Nanooks men's and women's cross country running teams were in Monmouth, Ore. last weekend competing in the Sundowner Invite. The men were able to race to a 9th place finish with 235 and the women, battling sickness, fought their way to a 10th place finish with 257 total points. Both Nanook running teams are headed to Willamette University on Oct. 5 to compete in their regular-season finale, the Charles Bowles Invite.
 
Hockey
THIS WEEK: Blue vs. Gold | NEXT WEEK: vs. Denver (10/5)
The Alaska Nanooks hockey team is set to unofficially begin their 2019-20 season this Saturday, Sept. 28 with their annual Blue vs. Gold game. While this Blue/Gold matchup will be entertainment to the crowd, it will also be the communities first look at this year's hockey team. With nine international freshman, and 22 total international players on the team, this team has come from all over looking to win. After the Blue vs. Gold game the Nanooks will officially open the season against the University of Denver on Oct. 5 at the Carlson Center. 
 
Swim
LAST WEEK: Blue vs. Gold | THIS WEEK: vs. San Diego State (9/29-30)
The Alaska Nanooks swim team will officially open up their season this upcoming weekend on Sept. 29-30 as they get ready to host San Diego State. After their Blue vs. Gold Pentathlon on Saturday, Sept. 21 that saw Kaia Norbye and Oda Bygdnes combine for the overall wins, the 'Nooks will turn to the regular season in hopes to capture that same glory. On Oct. 4 they will host their Alumni meet at the Patty Center Pool.
 
Volleyball 5-5, 2-0 GNAC
LAST WEEK: at SMU, SPU | THIS WEEK: vs. UAA (9/24) vs. MSUB (9/26)
The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team are coming off their first week sweep of Saint Martin's and Seattle Pacific on Sept. 19 and Sept. 21. The 'Nooks find themselves 5-5 on the season with a 2-0 GNAC record. Cate Whiting and Makena Overbey were both nominated for GNAC Player of the Week on the offensive and defensive side last week after their strong performances in the two wins. Alaska hosts in-state rival Alaska Anchorage on Tuesday, Sept. 24 in their home opener.
