@NanooksMBB Falls to SPU

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team dropped a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, falling 89-52 to the Seattle Pacific Falcons at the Alaska Airlines Court. The loss drops Alaska's overall record to 5-16 and 2-12 in GNAC play, while Seattle Pacific improves to 13-6 on the season and 10-4 in league matchups.

Turning Point
The Falcons went on a 10-point run to kick-off Saturday's game, putting Alaska in a hole they could never recover from. SPU went on to outscore Alaska 57-25 in the first half, but the Nooks kept it close in the second, only being outscored by five points (27-32).

Inside the Box Score
  • Alaska shot 30.2 percent from the floor (16-for-53), 6.7 percent from outside (1-for-15) and 67.9 percent from the free throw line (19-for-28).
  • The Nanooks picked up three offensive and 18 defensive rebounds to total 21 boards, while the Falcons dominated play around the bucket with 51 rebounds on the day (15 offensive, 40 defensive).
  • The Nooks also chipped in eight assists, four steals and one block.
  • On the flip side, SPU shot 52.5 percent from the floor (32-for-61), 34.4 percent from three-point range (11-for-32) and 56 percent from the line (14-for-25).
  • The Falcons collected 19 assists, six steals and one block.
Alaska Leaders
  • The Nanooks were led offensively by junior guard Tymoryae Glover, who shot 4-for-13 from the floor and 8-for-10 from the line for a team-high 16 points.
  • Junior guard Tre Eisenhut was the only other Alaska player to score double-digit figures, shooting 4-for-6 from the field and 4-for-6 from the line for 12 points.
  • Senior forward Daulton Lootens and junior forward Michael Kluting tied for a team-best four rebounds, while Lootens and redshirt-senior guard Derritt Scarver tied for a team-high two assists each.

The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team hits the road for a pair of GNAC contests next week, as they take on the Central Washington Wildcats in Ellensburg, Washington on Thursday, Feb. 14 before taking on the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks in Nampa, Idaho on Saturday, Feb. 16. Tip-off on Thursday is at 6pm AKST, while Saturday is slated for 5pm AKST.
