Seawolves Defeat @NanooksWBB at Home

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team dropped a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest to in-state rival Alaska Anchorage on Tuesday night, falling 88-43 at the Alaska Airlines Court. The loss drops Alaska's overall record to 3-16 and 0-13 in GNAC play, while the Seawolves improve to 20-1 overall and 12-1 in league matchups.

Coach's Comments
"We turned the ball over way too much and it's pretty hard to win a basketball game when they put up 30 more shots than you do, regardless of how you play. We lose our composure a little bit due to frustration in the first half, which I think put us into a hole and then too many second chance opportunities for them. We had our moments of playing some really good defense for 28 seconds and then they would get on the board, it was a little deflating. We can't do all those things and expect to beat a time that's ranked within the top-15 in the country." – head coach Kerri Nakamoto said on Tuesday.

Inside the Box Score
  • Alaska shot 34.8 percent from the floor (16-for-46), 25 percent from outside (5-for-20) and 54.5 percent from the free throw line (6-for-11).
  • The Nanooks pulled down six offensive and 21 defensive rebounds, totaling 27 on the night.
  • On the other end of the court, UAA tallied 42 boards total, including 19 offensive and 23 defensive.
  • The Nooks picked up nine assists, three steals and one block but unfortunately posted 21 turnovers.
Alaska Leaders
  • Senior guard Angela Murnion led Alaska's offense on Tuesday, shooting 5-for-10 from the floor, 3-for-6 from beyond the arc and 1-for-1 from the free throw line for a team-best 14 points.

  • Senior forward Ashlie Blackburn led her teammates in rebounds, collecting seven on the night.
  • Redshirt-junior Sabrina Ungaro posted a team-best three assists in 35 minutes on the floor.
