Cavs Top @NanooksWBB 71-44

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team dropped a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon, falling 71-44 to the Concordia Cavaliers at the Alaska Airlines Court. The loss drops Alaska's overall record to 4-18 and 1-15 in conference contests, while the Cavaliers improve to 8-13 on the season and 5-10 in GNAC play.

Coach's Comments
"I think we didn't come out with the same type of defensive intensity as Thursday, which resulted in us going into a hole early and constantly trying to comeback. Next week, we need to make sure we put a full 40-minute game together." – head coach Kerri Nakamoto said on Saturday.

Inside the Box Score
  • The Nooks shot 30.5 percent (18-for-59) from the field, 16.7 percent from outside (3-for-18) and 83.3 percent from the free throw line (5-for-6).
  • The Nanooks outdid their opponent in rebounding, collecting 15 offensive and 19 defensive boards to total 34 to Concordia's 31.
  • Alaska also chipped in nine assists and one steal against the Cavaliers.
Alaska Leaders
  • The Nanooks were led offensively by junior guard Kylie Wallace, who connected on 9-of-17 shots from the field for a team-best 18 points.
  • Wallace also led her teammates in rebounding, pulling down two offensive and six defensive for eight on the day.
  • Senior forward Marian Wamsley was the only other Alaska player to score double-digit figures, shooting 5-for-8 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the free throw line to register 11 points against the Cavaliers.
  • Senior guard Emily Evans led her teammates in assists, picking up three on the day.
