FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team snapped a 17-game losing streak on Thursday night, defeating the Western Oregon Wolves 68-65 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest at the Alaska Airlines Court. The win improves Alaska's overall record to 4-17 and 1-14 in conference play, while the Wolves drop to 7-14 on the season and 4-11 in league matchups.

- Thursday's win marks Alaska women's basketball's first GNAC win since Feb. 18, 2017 against Saint Martin's at home (56-41).
- The Nooks were on a 36-game GNAC losing streak, which began in the 2016-17 season and extended through the entire 2017-18 season.
- It also marks head coach Kerri Nakamoto's first GNAC win since taking over the program last summer.
- Furthermore, Thursday's win was the first GNAC win for seven of Alaska women's basketball's 10 players this season.
Turning Point
After trailing the entire game, Alaska tied the game 38-38 at the 6:10 mark of the third quarter with back-to-back good free throws from junior guard
Kylie Wallace. The Nooks took their first lead of the game at 1:58 of the third with a good three-pointer by redshirt-junior guard

The Nooks went on a six-point run to end the third quarter before going on another five-point run at the 4:43 mark of the fourth quarter. Senior guard
Emily Evans drained a three-pointer at the 1:57 mark of the fourth to put Alaska up 66-59. The Wolves responded with five points but couldn't catch up to the Nooks to seal the victory.

- After being outscored 21-9 in the first quarter, Alaska responded in the second and third, outdoing their opponent 18-11 and 25-16, respectively. The Wolves edged the Nooks 17-16 in the fourth quarter.
- The Nooks shot 43.1 percent from the floor (22-for-51), 43.8 percent from outside (7-for-16) and 77.3 percent from the free throw line (17-for-22).
- Alaska's best shooting came in the third quarter, connecting on 7-of-11 from the field (63.6%), 3-for-4 three-pointers (75%) and 8-for-11 from the free throw line (72.7%).
- The Nanooks pulled down 10 offensive and 23 defensive rebounds against the Wolves, collecting 33 boards on the night.
- Alaska also chipped in 13 assists, four steals and one block on the night.
Alaska Leaders
- Senior forward Marian Wamsley led all players on the floor with 23 points on Thursday, shooting 9-for-13 from the field, 1-for-1 from beyond the arc and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
- Senior forward Ashlie Blackburn shot 4-for-9 from the field and 6-for-8 from the free throw line to tally 14 points against WOU, while also picking up two assists in 25 minutes on the floor.
- Redshirt-junior Sabrina Ungaro was the only other Alaska player to post double-digit figures on Thursday, shooting 3-for-7 from the floor, 2-for-5 from outside and 5-for-6 from the free throw line, while also picking up a game-high seven assists.
- Junior guard Kylie Wallace led her teammates in rebounding, posting five on the night.
