@NanooksHockey Split Seventh Straight Series; Drop Game Two, 1-2

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks hockey team fell to the Michigan Tech Huskies on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2-1. This loss was the first of the season against Michigan Tech, after the 'Nooks grabbed the first three. This loss also drops the Nanooks back to .500 on the season at 9-9-0, 7-5-0-0 WCHA.

The Huskies scored first in the game, grabbing the opening goal midway through the first period while on the power play. Seamus Donohue played the puck from behind the Alaska net out to Trenton Bliss who then snapped a pass across the crease to Eric Gotz. Gotz connected and sent the puck past Anton Martinsson on his glove side. This gave Tech an early 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Nanooks made a quick response though, grabbing the tying goal only 1:24 into the second period. Chris Jandric sent a pass over to Markuss Komuls who then found the other Jandric brother, Steven, who then snuck the puck past MTU net-minder, Matt Jurusik. Jandric tied things up at 1-1 with that goal, and claimed his fourth goal of the season. Nearly 15 minutes passed until the Huskies struck again. Raymond Brice took the pass from Brian Holonen of MTU, from the blue line and sent in a shot towards the net; with a lot of bodies in the way, the puck was redirected off of Martinsson's upper body and snuck behind him, giving the Huskies their second goal of the game.

Unfortunately for the Nanooks, that goal turned into the game-winning goal, handing Alaska their seventh straight series-split.

The Nanooks head to Bemidji, Minn. next weekend to face-off with the Bemidji State Beavers on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7.
