Nanooks of the Week
Male: Tristan Thompson, Sr., D, Hockey – Scored and assisted on goals in the Nanooks 2-1 victory over rival, Anchorage on Oct. 25.
Female: Alexandria Bergholtz, R-Sr., Cross Country – Placed 35th at the GNAC Championships on Oct. 26 with a time of 23:45.00, the best finish by a Nanook racer.
 
Men's Basketball
THIS WEEK: vs. Fort Wainwright (Exhibition) 
The men's basketball team will unofficially open their season on Saturday, Nov. 2 with an exhibition game against the Fort Wainwright base team. This will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Patty Center and is open to the public. This game is an exhibition so stats and game results will not be put on the official schedule, however, it is a great preview for what is to come this season!
 
Women's Basketball
THIS WEEK: Alumni 
The women's basketball team will also open their season unofficially this weekend with an exhibition game against UAF Alumni. This game will be a fun event to see old and new faces in the Patty Center and will allow the fans to relive some of their previous athletes on the Fairbanks campus. Come out to the Patty Center at 3:00 p.m. and check it out.
 
Hockey 4-4-0, 3-1-0-0 WCHA
LAST WEEK: at Anchorage (W, L) THIS WEEK: vs. Bemidji State (11/1-2)
The Nanooks hockey team won their first game 2-1 in Anchorage on Oct. 25 but fell in the second half of their series ending game, 0-4. The Nanooks come home for their first home game since Oct. 5-6 against Denver. On Friday, Nov. 1 there will be a trick or treat event in the upper mezzanine of the Carlson Center for kids to trick or treat from 6:00 p.m. when doors open until the middle of the first period! The second night will be parents appreciation night and we will be recognizing parents who made the trip to Fairbanks for the hockey games.
 
Volleyball 10-10, 7-5 GNAC
LAST WEEK: at UAA, MSUB (L, W) THIS WEEK: vs. CWU, NNU (10/31, 11/2)
The Nanooks volleyball team fell to their in-state rival, Alaska Anchorage in five-sets on Tuesday, Oct. 22 but came back on Oct. 26 and pulled out a hard-fought five-set comeback win at Montana State, Billings. This win snapped their four game losing-streak and got the Nanooks back to .500 on the season. They will remain on the road and will look for another win over CWU and will look to get revenge on NNU following a loss earlier in the season.
