Nanooks of the Week
Female: Jr., Jessica Boyce, Rifle – Placed 5th overall vs. TCU with an aggregate score of 1169. In smallbore, Boyce shot a 579 and in air rifle, she shot a 590.
 
Male: So., D, Chris Jandric, Hockey – WCHA Defenseman of the Week following his two game-winning goals at Michigan Tech. The Nanooks won both games, snapping their 16-game losing streak to the Huskies and won their first series against Tech since 2014. 
 
Cross Country
LAST WEEK: at Charles Bowles Invite (10/5) | NEXT: GNAC Championships (10/26)
The Alaska Nanooks men's and women's cross country running teams both ran at Willamette University's Charles Bowles Invite on Oct. 5. The women, who competed in the 5km race, finished 16th overall in the 17 team race. The men's team competed in the 8km race and finished sixth overall, the best finish for a GNAC school. 
 
Hockey 2-2-0, 2-0-0-0 WCHA
LAST WEEK: at Michigan Tech (10/11-12) | THIS WEEK: at Penn State (10/17-18)
The Nanooks grabbed a two game sweep of the Michigan Tech Huskies in Houghton, Mich. on Oct. 11-12. These wins were their first against Michigan Tech since 2014, a 16-game losing streak. This was also their first sweep of the Huskies since that same 2014 season. Chris Jandric was named the WCHA Defenseman of the Week following his two game-winning-goals in the series. The Nanooks head to Penn State this week and will play the Nittany Lions on Oct. 17-18.
 
Rifle 3-1, 3-1 PRC
LAST WEEK: vs. Ohio State and TCU | NEXT: at UTEP (11/22)
The Alaska Nanooks rifle team ended their home schedule for the 2019-20 season against PRC opponents, Ohio State and TCU. Alaska defeated Ohio State by just two points on Friday, Oct. 11, 4660-4658. TCU and Ohio State faced off on Oct. 12 with Alaska receiving an off day. Sunday, Oct. 13 Alaska and TCU faced off back at the E.F. Horton Range on UAF campus. TCU grabbed the win over Alaska; despite three career-high rounds for Alaska shooters. 
 
Swim 0-2, 0-0 PCSC
LAST WEEK: BYE | NEXT WEEK: vs. Azusa Pacific (10/18-19)
The Alaska Nanooks swim team is coming off of their second straight bye week. They have not had a meet since opening the season against San Diego State University on Sept. 29-30. Through their two weeks of time off, the swim team has been assisting in the community. Alaska will be back in action next week when they host Azusa Pacific and open their PCSC schedule.
 
Volleyball 9-7, 6-2 GNAC
LAST WEEK: at WOU & Concordia | THIS WEEK: vs. WWU (10/17) & Simon Fraser (10/19)
The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team dropped their second GNAC game of the year, and their second game of the Willamette Valley road trip they took this past week. After defeating Western Oregon in four sets, the 'Nooks fell in five to Concordia. This week the Nanooks host the #2 nationally ranked Western Washington University Vikings and the Simon Fraser Clan.
