FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team fell 87-84 in overtime on Thursday night, dropping a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest to the Concordia Cavaliers at the Alaska Airlines Court. The loss drops Alaska's overall record to 4-6 and 1-2 in GNAC play, while the Cavaliers improve to 6-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference matchups.
Coach's Comments
"Even though I thought we played pretty good in the first half, we still had our flaws. We had nine turnovers at half, and the frustrating thing is, they didn't even press us the whole game and we still turned the ball over 19 times and you're just not going to win a ball game that way. Looking at the shooting percentages, we should've won the game but we didn't. I take my hat off to Concordia, they wanted it more in the second half, they beat us to fifty-fifty balls and made big plays. In the first half, I thought
Alex Martin came to play tonight, he played extremely well. But now, we have a tough Western Oregon team coming in on Saturday, it's a quick turnaround and we need to be ready for them." – head coach

- On the other end of the court, Concordia shot 52.5 percent from the floor (32-for-61), 29.4 percent from three-point range (5-for-17) and 85.7 percent from the free throw line (18-for-21).
- The Cavs tallied 29 rebounds, 11 assists and nine steals on the night.
- Three Nanooks and five Cavaliers tallied double-digit points on Thursday.
Alaska Leaders
- Junior Alex Martin led Alaska's offense on Thursday, shooting 6-for-8 from the floor, including 5-for-7 three-pointers, and 5-of-6 free throws for a game-high 22 points.
- Martin also tallied six rebounds and one steal in 31 minutes on the court.
- Junior forward Michael Kluting followed closely behind with a 17-point night, shooting 5-for-9 from the field and 7-for-10 from the free throw line
- Kluting also led the Nanooks in rebounding, pulling down seven boards on the night, while also chipping in two assists.
- Junior guard Spencer Sweet also produced a 17-point night on Thursday, shooting 4-for-5 from the floor, 3-for-4 from three-point range and 6-for-8 from the free throw line.
- Senior guard Isaiah Easaw led all players on the court with five assists.

The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team returns to the Alaska Airlines Court for another GNAC matchup against the Western Oregon Wolves on Saturday, Jan. 5. Tip-off is scheduled for 1pm AKST.
