FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team returns to their home court this week for a pair of big Great Northwest Athletic Conference contests. The Nooks will host the Seattle Pacific Falcons on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 7pm AKST before taking on the Saint Martin's Saints on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 3pm AKST. Both games will take place at the Alaska Airlines Court at the Patty Center.

Ticketing Promotion
The Alaska Nanooks announced on Wednesday that they will be giving complimentary admission to both Thursday and Saturday's women's basketball games to all U.S. government employees on furlough and their dependents. In order to receive the free admission, just present a valid government identification card at the door.
Last Time Out
The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team dropped a pair of GNAC contests on the road last week, falling 77-51 to Concordia on Thursday before Western Oregon defeated the Nanooks on Saturday, 79-50. The losses extend Alaska's losing streak to 11 games.
GNAC Standings
The Nanooks sit in 11th place in the GNAC standings with a 0-8 conference mark. Alaska's upcoming opponents, Seattle Pacific and Saint Martin's, currently rank sixth and 10th in the league standings, respectively. Northwest Nazarene remains perfect through eight GNAC games this season, keeping sole possession of first place in the league rankings.

The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team trails the all-time series against Seattle Pacific, 18-57. The Nanooks suffered a 53-44 loss at home in their first meeting on Dec. 4, 1974. Alaska is currently riding a two-game losing streak to the Falcons, with their last win coming on Feb. 16, 2017 at home (63-61).
All-time against the Saint Martin's Saints, Alaska is 20-23 with the first meeting between the two teams coming as a 74-60 win for the Nanooks on the road on Jan. 2, 1986. Like the Falcons, Alaska is currently on a two-game losing streak to the Saints with their last victory coming as a 56-41 decision at home on Feb. 18, 2017.
Scouting the Opponent – Seattle Pacific (5-10, 4-4 GNAC)
The Falcons split a pair of home games last week, besting Western Washington 61-59 on Thursday before falling to Simon Fraser on Saturday. Senior Riley Evans leads the team in scoring through 11 weeks of play, averaging 14.5 points per game.
Scouting the Opponent – Saint Martin's (3-13, 1-7 GNAC)
Saint Martin's fell to Western Washington and Simon Fraser at home last week by a combined 11 points. Sophomore Saniah Simpson-Patu has led SMU all season in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game. The guard is also tied for first in the GNAC with 72 free throw attempts.
