@NanooksMBB Drops GNAC Matchup to NNU, 83-73

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball team fell in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action on Thursday night, falling 83-73 to the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks at the Alaska Airlines Court. The loss drops Alaska's overall record to 4-10 and 1-6 in GNAC play, while the Nighthawks improve to 11-2 on the year and 6-1 in conference contests.

Coach's Comment
"We had way too many silly turnovers tonight, and we have to do a better job taking care of the basketball. We fell in love with the free throw line again tonight but I felt like when we shoot 24-for-27, we need to keep attacking and we didn't. Our rebounding faltered a little bit with some missed positions but we just have to get better." – head coach Greg Sparling said on Thursday.

Inside the Box Score
  • The Nooks shot 36.4 percent from the floor (20-for-55), 36.0 percent from the outside (9-for-25) and 88.9 percent from the free throw line (24-for-27).
  • Alaska pulled down five offensive and 27 defensive rebounds for 32 total boards.
  • The Nooks also chipped in 17 assists, six steals and three blocks.

  • Sweet shot 5-for-13 from the floor, including 4-for-7 from three-point range, and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
  • Kluting tied Glover for a team-best eight rebounds, while shooting 4-for-11 from the floor and 10-for-12 from the free throw line, while also posting two blocks and one steal in 29 minutes on the floor.
