ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team fell to the No. 8 team in the country on Tuesday night, dropping a Great Northwest Athletic Conference matchup 63-46 to in-state rival Alaska Anchorage at the Alaska Airlines Center. The loss drops Alaska's overall record to 4-15 and 0-13 in GNAC play, while the Seawolves improve to 19-2 on the season and 12-1 in conference games.
"Tonight was a tough loss but we played really well and stuck with one of the best teams in the nation at times throughout the game," head coach
Brett Sawyer said on Tuesday. "Kylie had another great game tonight and continues to improve each and every day."
Sophomore guard
Kylie Wallace led all players in Tuesday's game in scoring, registering 16 points on the night. Wallace shot 5-for-7 from the floor and 6-for-7 from the free throw line, while also chipping in one rebound and two assists in 18 minutes on the court.

Lexi Carpenter was the only other Nanook to register double-digit figures in Anchorage on Tuesday, shooting 4-for-14 from the field, 1-for-5 from beyond the arc and 1-for-2 from the free throw line to tally 10 points. Carpenter also chipped in three rebounds, two steals and a game-high five assists in another game-best 33 minutes on the court.

Josie Sewell tied for the game-high in boards, registering six against the Seawolves.
As a team, the Alaska Nanooks shot 36.2 percent from the field (17-for-47), 21.4 percent from three-point range (3-for-14) and 75.0 percent from the free throw line (9-for-12). The Nanooks also posted six offensive and 27 defensive boards for 33 total rebounds, 16 assists, nine steals and four blocks.
The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team returns to the Alaska Airlines Court on Saturday, Feb. 3 for another GNAC matchup against the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets at 2pm AKST.
