@NanooksSwim Hosts UIW Cardinals in Final Home Series of the Season

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks swim team is back in action this weekend as they host the University of Incarnate Word Cardinals in a two-day matchup at the Patty Center Pool this Friday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 27. Friday's meet is scheduled for 6pm AKST, while Saturday is slated for Noon AKST.

Last Time Out
Two weeks ago, the Alaska Nanooks swim team competed in the Lion's Cup, hosted by Pacific Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference for Loyola Marymount. The Nanooks placed fourth overall in the Cup, behind fellow PCSC teams Pepperdine, LMU and Dixie State.

Alaska Featured in CollegeSwimming.com Rankings
As of Wednesday, the Alaska Nanooks are ranked 30th in the CollegeSwimming.com's College Dual Team Rankings for women's NCAA Division II. The Nanooks have calculated for 644.0 points to occupy 33rd place in the rankings.

Mathews Named PCSC Female Swimmer of the Week
On Jan. 16, senior Kate Mathews was named CollegeSwimming.com's PCSC NCAA DII Female Swimmer of the Week after an impressive showing at the LMU Lion's Cup in Los Angeles. Mathews won each of her individual events, including the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.19), the 400-yard individual medley (4:38.64) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.84). Mathews also anchored the Nooks in the 200-yard medley relay, the 400-yard medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Four Nanooks and one Alaska relay team rank in the top-50 times amongst NCAA Division II women's programs in seven different events:
