FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team continues to search for their first Great Northwest Athletic Conference win, as the Nooks fell 74-54 to the Western Oregon Wolves on Saturday afternoon at the Alaska Airlines Court. The loss drops Alaska's overall record to 4-10 and 0-8 in conference play, while Wolves improve to 7-7 on the season and 3-5 in league games.
The Nooks were led offensively by junior guard
Emily Evans and sophomore forward
Brittany Richards, who both registered 14 points against the Wolves. Evans shot 4-for-14 from the floor, including 3-for-8 from behind the arc and 3-for-4 from the free throw line. Evans also picked up three rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.
Richards shot 4-for-7 from the floor, 1-for-3 from three-point range and 5-for-6 from the free throw line to post her career-best 14 points on the day. Richards also tallied six rebounds to tie for a team-high, two assists and one block in 17 minutes on the court.
Sophomore guard
Lexi Carpenter was the only other Alaska player to score double-digit figures on Saturday, as the Yakima, Washington native shot 5-for-14 from the floor and 1-for-4 from behind the arc to tally 11 points.

Josie Sewell matched Richards' six rebounds to tie for a team-best.
As a team, the Nooks shot 31.1 percent from the floor (19-for-61), 26.1 percent from beyond the arc (6-for-23) and 83.3 percent from the free throw line (10-for-12). Alaska also posted nine offensive and 22 defensive boards to total 31 rebounds, 11 assists, seven steals and three blocks.
The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball team will hit the road this week, as they face the Seattle Pacific Falcons on Thursday, Jan. 18 before taking on the Saint Martin's Saints on Saturday, Jan. 20. Thursday's game in Seattle is scheduled for 6:30pm AKST, while Saturday's game in Lacey, Washington is slated for 5:15pm AKST.
