Cavaliers Knock Down @NanooksVB 3-1

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Alaska Nanooks volleyball team concluded their Great Northwest Athletic Conference trip to Oregon with a split, as the Nooks fell 3-1 to the Concordia University Cavaliers at the Cavalier Court on Saturday night. Alaska went 21-25, 16-25, 25-18 and 13-25 against the Cavs in their first meeting throughout the 2017 season.

The loss drops Alaska's overall record to 9-10 and 2-8 in conference play, while Concordia improves to 9-8 overall and 4-6 GNAC.

"We were not disciplined in the details tonight," head coach Brian Scott said on Saturday. "Lots of little things added up and came back to haunt us. The little things are the difference-makers when it comes to winning games. Defensively, our service receive, it added up and we lost from it."

Turning Point
  • After coming back to steal the third set and make it a 2-1 match, Concordia started the fourth set with a four-point run to make it a 4-0 game before Alaska got on the board
  • The Cavaliers continued to capitalize on their momentum, making it a 14-6 game before running away with the set to seal the match 3-1
Inside the Box Score
  • Redshirt-freshman outside hitter Markie Miller was the only Nanook to record double-digit kills, posting 13 on the night to lead Alaska's offense
  • Miller's 13 kills and only one error off of 31 total attacks earned her a team-best .387 hitting percentage on the night
  • Senior setter Rachel Nichols registered 23 assists on the night for a team-high, while also chipping in seven digs and two service aces
  • Freshman setter Cate Whiting was hot on Nichols' heels, collecting 21 assists against the Cavaliers
  • Redshirt-senior outside hitter Maddie Davis led all Alaska players in digs on Saturday night, posting 15
  • Freshman outside hitter Lahra Weber was the only other Alaska player to tally double-digit digs, recording 11
  • Concordia was led by Lindsey Dorsey, who totaled a game-high 21 kills
