"We broke two pool records and competed very well against a Division I opponent, despite an interesting meet format," said swimming head coach Scott Lemley. "Our team was tired at the end of the day but I thought we swam very well these two days."
M. Adams was part of four first-place finishes, including two relays, as she also placed first in the 50 butterfly with a time of 25.22. Besides her record-setting relay in the 200 freestyle, M. The Nanooks honored its five seniors as part of Senior Day festivities, as Alaska will be graduating M. Adams, Lyons, Kendra Ashwell, Kelly Meierotto and Gabi Summers after distinguished careers.
"It was a great moment being able to honor our seniors," Lemley commented. "This is one of the best senior classes that we have ever had. They are incredible leaders and it will be very challenging to replace these girls."
Alaska will now prepare for the Pacific Collegiate Swimming & Diving Championships held in La Mirada, California. The Nanooks will compete Feb. 18-21 at the La Mirada Regional Aquatic Center ahead of the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships.
