The Nanook swimmers have been idle from competition since early January, when they defeated Willamette University, 220-200, as part of a training trip to the Brian Bent Memorial Aquatic Center in Coronado, California.
Prior to that meet, Alaska competed at the Husky Invitational in Federal Way, Washington, where it was the highest women's collegiate team and took the first two individual places, for the first time in its history. Martha Hood and Margot Adams placed first and second, respectively, to lead the Nanooks.
Friday, competition against the Division I opponent begins at 6:00 p.m. AKT with Saturday's meet commencing at 10:30 a.m. Saturday will also serve as "Senior Day" as Alaska will honor its five seniors and following the meet, swimmers will sign team photos for any Junior Nanooks in attendance.
Alaska will honor Margot Adams, Kendra Ashwell, Danielle Lyons, Kelly Meierotto and Gabi Summers on Saturday, as part of the Senior Day festivities.
February 18-20 marks the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference Championships, hosted at the La Mirada Regional Aquatic Center in La Mirada, California. Then, in mid-March, the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships begin in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Alaska returned from a trip to the Buckeye State, triumphantly, as it trounced No. 10 Ohio State and No. 14 Akron in back-to-back days. The Nanooks set an all-time team record with the 4,711-4,652 victory over Ohio State, and following its win over the Zips, they were ranked No. 2 in the nation.
The Nanooks now host the No. 1 team in the nation, West Virginia. The Mountaineers are the defending National Champions and are undefeated so far this season, averaging the nation's highest scoring average of 4,710. Alaska is right behind its foes, however, boasting a 4,703.33 average.
Last season, prior to the NCAA Championships, Alaska fell to then No. 1 West Virginia 4,709-4,680 in Morgantown, and will look for revenge as they two teams shoot back-to-back days at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range. Shooting begins at 9:00 a.m. AKT.
Following the match against West Virginia, the Nanooks will head to Colorado to prepare for the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships. Alaska will face Nevada on Thursday, February 5 before the Conference Championships (a two day event) begins on February 7.
