Nanook Cross Country to Compete in Oregon

SALEM, Ore.—The Alaska Nanooks harriers hit the trails for the third time this season, competing in the Charles Bowles Invitational on Saturday.  The Nanooks men will run an 8-kilometer race beginning at 9:30 a.m. Pacific time.

The Nanooks men travel seven student athletes to compete in the invite. Sophomores Mitch Burgess and Keegan Rankin join juniors Isaac Lammers and Michael Fehrenbach, along with seniors Ross MacDougall, Jonas Loeffler, and Kenneth Brewer.  Nanook head cross country coach Scott Jerome is hopeful Lammers, Loeffler and Fehrenbach, who are primarily skiers, will help push his top runners at the meet.

"I'm interested to see how bringing those guys down will change the scoring and how they will perform with Mitch and Keegan," Jerome said.  "I'm very curious to see if that changes the dynamic to push the top runners a little bit more."

Following Saturday's meet, the Nanooks harriers will compete once more prior to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship, running in the 18th annual Lewis & Clark Invitational on October 18th.
