FAIRBANKS, Alaska
- The Alaska rifle team opens its 2012-13 campaign this weekend when it travels to Lincoln, Neb., to take on a pair of nationally-ranked programs in North Carolina State and Nebraska.

The Nanooks, ranked fourth nationally in the initial Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association poll, first take on No. 18 N.C. State on Saturday at 5 a.m. (AKDT) before shooting against No. 10 Nebraska Sunday at 5 a.m. (AKDT).

Four returners from last year's third-place squad will be making the trip to the Great Plains, along with a pair of rookies. The Nanooks will be represented by senior Cole Bures (Odell, NE), junior Michael Liuzza (New Orleans, LA), sophomores Ryan Anderson (Great Falls, VA) and Mats Eriksson (Malung, Sweden) and freshmen Soren Butler (Casselton, ND) and Tim Sherry (Highlands Ranch, CO).

All five returners to this year's squad have produced All-America accolades, while seven freshman join head coach Dan Jordan's team.

Earlier Friday, the host Huskers downed the Wolfpack 4635-4582 in the season opener for both programs.

Live stats will be made available for both matches.
