The Nanooks volleyball team suffered its first conference loss Saturday night to Western Oregon, 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 26-28, 15-25) to drop to 3-5 (1-1 GNAC).
The Nanooks played tough against the Wolves, but dropped the deciding set by ten. Western Oregon improved to 2-0 in conference play after beating both Alaska schools within a week.
In the Nanooks set win, they led by as many as six points.
Erica Gage led the offense for the first time this season with 11 kills. Tereza Bendlova followed with 10 and added a team-best three service aces. Mandy Grierson set the offense with 33 assists.
Bendlova led the defense with 21 digs. Jordyn Montgomery followed with 15 and then Grierson with 12. The team had eight total blocks. Gage finished with a block solo and three assists. Casey Tidwell finished with four assists.
The Nanooks head to Anchorage on Saturday, Sept. 18.
