LACEY, WA - Despite a pair of 20-point scorers the Alaska Nanooks could not grab a road win in a 91-75 loss to Saint Martin's at Marcus Pavilion on Thursday night. Alaska trailed by only three at half but could not overcome the Saints hot second half shooting in dropping their seventh straight contest.

The Nanooks raced out to a quick 8-0 lead on the Saints and held the host scoreless for almost four minutes before Blake Poole got Saint Martin's on the board. Saint Martin's went on to grab their first lead, 16-14, and held on the rest of the half for a 40-37 lead after 20 minutes.

Saint Martin's went into the half led by Poole who scored 12 points on 2-of-5 shooting, including going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

Nashorn Maynard (Saint Paul's, Saint Kitts) went into the break with a game-high 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting and pulled down four rebounds. The Nanooks out-rebounded the Saints 19-17 while only turning the ball over five times.

The teams battled back and forth to open the second half with the lead changing six times in the first 10 minutes of play. The final of those lead changes occurred after the Nanooks grabbed a 64-63 lead only to watch the Saints reel off a 28-12 run to end the game.

Alaska finished the game shooting 48% (32-of-67) from the field and was once again led by Maynard, with a team-high 23 points and 10-of-20 shooting. Maynard and Joe Powell (Englewood, NJ) co-led the team with seven rebounds each. Emmanuel Jenkins (Tacoma, WA) (20) and Jon Moe (Granite Falls, Washington) (11) also scored in double-figures for Alaska, which also pulled down 14 offensive rebounds as a team.

Poole led the Saints with 30 points and 11 rebounds, as Saint Martin's shot 56% (33-of-59) from the field and 50% (9-of-18) from behind the arc. Jeremy Green (18), Brady Bomber (15) and Galen Squiers (15) also scored double-figure for the Saints.

The Nanooks will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Western Oregon to take on the Wolves. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
