LONG BEACH, CA - Mariya Pavlovskaya (Korolev City, Russia) earned her second straight all conference honor in the second day of the Pacific Coast Swim Conference Championships in Long Beach, California on Thursday afternoon.
With her fifth place finish in the 200-yard IM Pavlovskaya earned All-Conference honors by finishing in the top eight with a time of 2:07.73, besting her preliminary time of 2:09.15.
Courtney Nichols (Columbia,SC) also swam a strong 200-yard IM, finishing 13
th with a time of 2:10.43, which will qualify her for an NCAA “B” cut.
Both
Kinsey Laine (Silver Lake, WA) and
Heidi Tilicki (Junction City, OR) produced lifetime best times in the 500-yard freestyle race, finishing 11
th and 18
th, respectively. Laine finished with a time of 5:09.38 to qualify for a NCAA “B” cut and Tilicki finished the race in 5:15.22.
Felina Rosadiuk (Fairbanks, AK) broke an Alaska record with a 24.07 second 50-yard freestyle run, which was good for 10
th overall. Rosadiuk raced in a time of 24.22 seconds in her prelim race only to break that record in the final race.
Alaska finished the day in the pool with the 200-yard freestyle relay and placed 11
th out of 26 teams with a time of 1:43.32, almost a full 12 seconds behind first place finisher from Loyola Marymount. The team of Laine,
Meghan O'Leary (Seward, AK),
Sarah Meierotto (Fairbanks, AK) and
Kendra Day (Fairbanks, AK) fell nine seconds shy of qualifying for the NCAA cut and five seconds shy of a NCAA “B” cut.
Alaska currently sits in eighth place with 207 points which is only nine points back of seventh place Azusa Pacific and 14 points back of sixth place Cal Baptist Univeirsty. The Nanooks will return to the pool tomorrow to take part in day three of the PCSC Championships.
