CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Alaska Nanooks continued their 2010 early season trend with another victory on Election Day at the Citadel. The Blue and Gold outshot the Bulldogs men's and women's squads with aggregate scores of 4,653 to 4,415 and 4,144, respectively.
In the smallbore, the Blue and Gold's team score of 2,314 out-muscled The Citadel men by 163 points (2,151) and the women by an astounding 358 points (1,956). Senior
Cody Rutter fired the discipline's high score with a 589 and his five teammates shot the next five best scores including Michael Liuzza's 576,
Cole Bures' 575,
Anna Hjelmevoll's 574,
Aaron Holsopple's 570 and
Scott Franz's 566.
In the air gun, the Nanooks proved 75 points better than the Bulldog men (2,339-2,264) and more than twice as dominate over the Citadel's women's team with 151 point margin of victory (2,188). Sophomore
Cole Bures led the way with a match-high 590, followed by Hjelmevoll (585), Rutter (584) and Liuzza (580). Franz was sixth overall with a 575 and Holsopple finished ninth with a 561.
The Nanooks continue their road trip with a match at Jacksonville State (Alabama) on Thursday.
