Erica Gage and Tereza Bendlova played their final game as Alaska volleyball players Saturday, and the team sent them off winners. Alaska topped last-place Saint Martin's 3-2 (26-24, 22-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-12) in a match that could have gone either way throughout.

Gage headed into the game ranked fourth all-time in school history in total blocks with 289. She added six more block assists to bring her up to 295.

Bendlova entered the game ranked third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in kills (300, 3.41/g) and points (336, 3.82/g). She added nine more kills to close out her first and only season with Alaska.

But if the night's show was about the team's departing seniors, it was stolen by juniors Marybeth Wikander and Jennifer Holland. Wikander led the offense with 18 kills en route to being named player of the game, and Holland led the defense with 30 digs.

With the win, the Nanooks improve to 7-17 (5-13 GNAC) and 4-9 at home. Head coach Phil Shoemaker says that while his team will be spending a lot of time in the training room and study hall in the coming weeks, they will be back to work soon for next season.
