The Alaska volleyball team fell to 4-10 (2-6 GNAC) in heartbreaking fashion Thursday to conference foes Northwest Nazarene. After picking up a 2-0 lead, the Nanooks succumbed to a feisty Crusader attack over the next three sets.
The Nanooks led by as much as eight points in that third set and seemed ready to leave the Patty Center with a sweep. The Crusaders were all but finished and used seven-point run to eventually match and beat the Nanooks 27-25.
Tereza Bendlova led Alaska with 18 kills. She was closely followed by Simone Chavous, who went on the attack with 16.
The team finished with a .120 hitting percentage (57 kills and 34 errors on 192 attacks), but Northwest Nazarene was not much stronger with a .169 (59 kills and 27 errors on 189 attacks).
Allison Oddy led the defense with a season-high 24 digs. She was followed by Chavous with 16 and Bendlova with 14.
The Nanooks return to action Saturday at home against Central Washington
