Box Score]
For the second straight game,
Simone Chavous took control of the Alaska attack and led with 11 attacks. The Nanooks were balanced with five different women taking 16 attacks or more. But in the end, the attacks had trouble landing for points. The Nanooks lost 3-1 to Anchorage.
After beating the Seawolves 3-1 in Anchorage in September, the Nanooks looked confident in the first set. They put together an early five-point run highlighted by a kill and service ace by Chavous but fell short.
They captured the second set by spreading the ball around and making hits. Chavous,
Tereza Bendlova and
Erica Gage each finished the set with four kills.
The Seawolves were able to swing momentum and take the next two for the win. Set four included a seven-point run built partly on four Alaska attack errors.
Bendlova finished behind Chavous with eight kills. Gage,
Marybeth Wikander and
Mandy Grierson each contributed seven.
Allison Oddy led the defense with 11 digs at libero.
The Nanooks return to action Thursday at Simon Fraser.
