[Alaska vs. Notre Dame Series Notes]

FAIRBANKS, AK -
The No. 14/13 Alaska Nanooks continue their Central Collegiate Hockey Association schedule at home with their second conference series in as many weeks, as they host the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the Carlson Center on Friday and Saturday.

• Alaska trails Notre Dame in the all-time series 20-25-4. This weekend the Nanooks will look to snap their eight game winless skid against Irish. They have not beaten a Notre Dame squad since the 2005-06 season, when they used a pair of 3-1 and 1-0 victories to sweep the higher-ranked Irish on the road in South Bend during the first round of the 2006 CCHA Playoffs.

• Despite trailing in the all-time encounters, Alaska leads the series in Fairbanks 13-9-2.

• SO G Scott Greenham was named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month and the CCHA Goalie of the Week this week. He backstopped the Nanooks to a 5-0-1 record in October and leads the CCHA in winning percentage (.917), save percentage (.949) and goals-against average (1.14).

• Greenham's goals-against average ranks second in the nation and first among goaltenders to record more than 100 minutes. In addition, he ranks sixth in Division I in save percentage and second among netminders who have faced more than 100 shots on goal.

• FR F Andy Taranto earned special metion to the CCHA Rookie of the Month for October. He has 2-4-6 through six games this season.

• Last weekend the Nanooks used 3-1 and 3-2 overtime wins to sweep the Ferris State Bulldogs at home. It marked the first series sweep of the season and kept Alaska unbeaten this season at 5-0-1 as well as unbeaten when playing FSU in the last 15 games (13-0-2).

• Alaska's 5-0-1 start is its longest unbeaten streak at the start of a season since 1987-88, when the Nanooks won their first six games before suffering a loss. However, the mark does represent the program's best-ever record in the month of October.

• Next weekend, the Blue and Gold pack their bags and head south for their first two-week road trip of the season to play at Bowling Green (Nov. 13-14) and Lake Superior State (Nov. 20-21)
