- The Alaska Nanooks took to the court on Thursday night and dropped the match to GNAC foe Western Washington by the score of 3-0.  The Vikings downed the Nanooks by the scores of 25-22, 25-22 and 25-21 to improve to 15-7 and 8-3 in conference play.  The loss drops the Nanooks to 8-12 overall and 2-7 in the GNAC.

The Nanooks and Vikings took battle in three hotly contested matches that all came down to the wire.  Alaska fought back to tie the games at 20 in each of the first two sets before Western Washington went on a 5-2 run to win both.  In the third set the Nanooks tied the match at 19, only to see the Vikings once again take control of the set to eventually close out the match.

Senior outside hitter Megan Thigpen (Spokane, WA) had a match-high 16 kills and also contributed seven digs for Alaska while Jessica Hill (Colorado Springs, CO) registered 10 kills.  Alexa Sherman (Calabasas, CA) had 32 assists to go along with nine digs and five kills.

Western Washington was led by Megan Amundson who collected 15 kills and nine digs while hitting .364 for the match in the win.  Emily Jepsen also had double-digit kills with 13 and assisted on six of the teams ten blocks.  Both Allison Gotz and Marlayna Geary had 13 digs apeace with Laurie Yearout having a match-high 36 assists.

For the match the Nanooks were out hit .220-.110 with the Vikings only committing 17 errors for the match while also collecting 10 blocks in the win.

The Nanooks will return to action on Saturday when they host Central Washington for another GNAC tilt.  The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
