Career: Played in 361 sets...3560 assists...9.86 assists per game...361 kills... .241 hitting percentage...62 aces...855 digs...2.37 digs per game...96 total blocks. Led the team in assists all four years. Ranks 5th (.270 in 2008) and tied 6th (2.69 in 2009) in hitting percentage, and 7th (978 in 2008) and 8th (965 in 2009) in assists for the Alaska Nanook Individual Season Records. Ranks 2nd in Assists, 4th in hitting percentage, and 9th in digs for the Nanook Career Records. Ranked 28th Nationally for assists in 2008. Ranks 6th in assists and 8th in assists per game in the GNAC Record Book. Was the 7th person to record over 3,000 assists in GNAC History (Sept. 17, 2009), and only the third in Nanook history. GNAC Player of the week in 2008 and 2009. Nanook athlete of the week in 2009. Three Year member on the GNAC Academic All-Conference Team. Named to the Nanook Classic All-Tournament Team in 2008. GNAC Honorable Mention in 2008 and 2009.

2009: Played in all 100 sets...Led the team in assists (965), and hitting percentage (.269)...3rd on team in blocks (33)...4th on team in aces (15), and digs (229)...4th in GNAC, 5th Overall in assists...Earned GNAC Academic All-Conference Team...Earned GNAC player of the week on Oct. 26-Nov. 1 with 91 assists, 14 digs and five blocks and hit for a .684 percentage (14-1-19) to lead the Nanooks to a pair of 3-1 road victories at Lacey and Monmouth, respectively. Sherman had 10 kills in 11 attempts and also contributed 50 assists in Saturday's win at Western Oregon as UAF set a GNAC single-match record for four set contests with a .407 percentage (66-16-123). The Nanooks smashed the old record of .385 they set against Humboldt State in 2003...Nanook Athlete on the week of Nov. 2...Earned GNAC All-Conference Honorable Mention.

2008: Played in all 25 matches...led the team in assists (978, 10.40 per game), 2nd in hitting percentage (.270), and digs (211), 4th in aces (14) and digs per game (2.24), 5th in points (102) and blocks (22)...ranked third for assists amongst the GNAC leaders statistically and 28th nationally...notched 8 double-doubles (Assists, Digs)...recorded season-high 55 assists and 10 digs at UAA on Oct. 15...recorded 7 kills and 51 assists in win against then ranked #3 WWU on Oct. 11...recorded season-high of 3 aces at SMU on Oct. 4...recorded 7 kills in a 3-2 win over UAA on Sept. 27...earned co-GNAC player of the week on Sep. 8-14 with 200 assists (10.53 per set), 16 kills in 28 attempts without an error for a .571 average, 37 digs, and eight blocks for four wins in five matches at the Montana State Billings Invitational...named to the all-tournament team for the Nanook Classic...had season-high 16 digs on Sept. 1 3 against NDNU...had career high 4 blocks against HH on Sept. 12...had 52 assists and 15 digs against Catawba on Sept. 5... named Toyota Player of the game on Aug. 30 for 41 assists and 12 digs in Nanooks 3-1 upset of #13 UCM Jennies...earned GNAC academic All-conference team...earned GNAC All-Conference Honorable Mention...ranked 5th in hitting percentage (.270), and 7th in assists (978) for the Nanook Individual Season record and is currently 4th in assists (2595) for the Nanook Career Records...earned the 2008 Team Best Offensive Player Award.

Prior to Alaska:  Voted team captain and team MVP for three consecutive seasons...given several Coaches and All-Tournament Setter Awards during her career at CHS...awarded her second All-League Setter award for the Southern California Marmonte League in 2005.

Personal: Daughter of Jeff and Mary Sherman...siblings Jenna and Dana...plays piano and enjoys snowboarding, music, and traveling.

Coach Shoemaker says: "Technically and probably tactically Alexa Sherman will be, as a freshman, maybe as good a setter as UAF has ever had. Over time she is going to get better and better. She possesses a strong court presence and sharp mind as well as an outstanding training background."
