FAIRBANKS, AK – The Alaska Nanooks traveled to Nampa, ID and dropped a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest to Northwest Nazarene 3-0. The Crusaders defeated the Nanooks by the scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 26-24.
The Crusaders outhit the Nanooks .213 to .089 in the match while the Nanooks committed 24 errors in the three sets.
The Nanooks were led in the match by
Megan Thigpen (Spokane, WA) who tallied 12 kills and 12 digs to lead Alaska.
Heather Lyons (Anchorage, AK) added nine kills and hit a team best .217 for the match.
Allison Oddy (Chilliwack, BC) had nine digs and
Jennifer Holland had eight.
Alexa Sherman (Calabasas, CA) co-led the match with 22 digs while freshman Mady Grierson has seven assists in the loss.
The Crusaders, who were ranked ninth in the latest West Region poll, were led by Cammy Dranginis who had a match high 13 kills while not registering an error. Dranginis hit .650 for the match. Haley Hevern led the way with 20 digs and Amy Higginson chipped in 22 assists in the victory.
The Nanooks fell to 8-10 overall and 2-5 in the GNAC while the Crusaders improved to 13-8 overall and 6-3 in the GNAC.
Alaska will return to action on Saturday night when they travel to Seattle, WA to battle Seattle Pacific. The contest is set to start at 6:00 PM.
