2006: Led the team in kills, averaging 3.05 per game...second on the team in digs, averaging 3.67 per game...earned a career-high 27 digs on October 7 against Western Oregon...set season-high of 20 kills on October 31 against Northwest Nazarene University...earned All-Tournament honors at the Auto-Service Company Nanook Classic Tournament...tied record of nine service aces in the Nanook Classic...Co-Freshman of the Year and member of GNAC first team...Named team MVP.

Prior to Alaska: Member of three Class 4A State Championship volleyball teams at MHS and has also been rostered on three District and Regional Championship teams...captain for two years at MHS...was named to Northwest Invitational Tournament all-tournament team...named Most Valuable Player in the Greater Spokane Leauge in 2005...also participated in basketball, track and field, and softball.

Personal: Daughter of Stan and Laurie Thigpen...siblings Dan, Emily, and Ben...rides horses and enjoys all sports.

Coach Shoemaker says: "Megan Thigpen is the first Volleyball High School All-American to ever select Alaska for her college home. She is a fierce competitor, talented athlete, and leadership comes naturally to her. We have no concerns about her size as a middle. She will more than overcome what she may lack in height with the size of her `heart'. Remember: It's not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog!"
