Amy Donovan enters her third season as the head coach of the Nanooks women's basketball program in 2024-25.
In her first season with the 'Nooks, she led them to a 4-21, 1-17 GNAC record. Donovan led the Nanooks to her first collegiate win on Nov. 26, 2022 in the Nanook-hosted Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Invitational with an 80-64 win over Salem University. Following a pair of wins over Multnomah the Nanooks next win was a historic five-point win over Alaska Anchorage.
The win over the Seawolves was their first since 2007, snapping a 16-year drought.
In 2024-25, Donovan led the Nanooks to a 5-23, 3-15 GNAC record. She led them to a pair of wins in the Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Invitational. beating Cal. State San Bernardino and Covenant College (Ga.). In GNAC play Donovan picked up overtime and forfeit wins vs. Western Oregon and another victory over Saint Martin's.
Donovan comes to Fairbanks after spending the previous four seasons with the Weber State Wildcats as the women's basketball assistant coach. During her time at Weber State, Donovan held major responsibilities in recruiting and initial eligibility, as well as fundraising through community members, event management and other leads. Alongside her fundraising abilities, Donovan was tasked as a liaison with the marketing and community service, seeing a ticket sales increase of 24% from 2018-2020 and a 521% community service hour increase from 2018-2021.
Before Weber State, Donovan served as the head coach of the Shoreline Community College women's basketball team for one season. In her one season at Shoreline, Donovan managed academic performance, managed all operations tasks for the women's basketball team, including; scheduling, team travel, budget requirements and fundraising. Through all of this, she also taught four courses in the Physical Education department.
From August 2016 to April 2017, Donovan spent the season with Northern Arizona University, serving as the women's basketball assistant coach. In her one year with NAU, she assisted in all facets of the DI basketball program. She worked with post players, scouted opponents, assisted in recruiting, fundraising and academic management.
She coordinated with internal and external stakeholders regarding development and fundraising while also working on the teams travel budget. Donovan also has served as a high school girls head varsity coach at Holy Names Academy from May 2015-August 2016, an A PLUS Youth Program/Basketball Education in Action mentor from September 2013-May 2015 and a women's basketball graduate assistant from June 2012-July 2013 while working towards her Masters at the University of Washington.
Donovan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010 before earning her Masters in Education from the University of Washington in 2013.
