Steinbach Pistons (MJHL) & Weyburn Red Wings (SJHL)
Birnie spent four years with the Weyburn Red Wings before ending the 2021-22 season with the Steinbach Pistons in the MJHL. He played in 93 games with Weyburn, scoring 50 total points, 19 goals and 31 assists. He was the Red Wings top-scorer in 2020 and was an SJHL Community Ambassador in 2021. After joining the Pistons for 24 games, he scored 10 goals and assisted on 21 for 31 points. He skated in 18 playoff games in 2021-22, scoring 11 goals and assisting on 14 for 25 points. His play in the playoffs earned him the Steinbach Piston's Playoff MVP Award.Â
