Cross Country Running
2011 as a senior: Began the season finishing 16th in both the 8K at the UAF Invitational clocking in at 28:09.6 and in the 4K finished with a time of 13:55.6...Finished off the season racing in Hawaii where he finished 21st in the four mile race with a time of 23:44...recieved GNAC All-Academic Team Honors.
2010 as a junior: Finished 14th in the 8K at the Alaska Nanook Cross Country Invitational with a time of 28:28.7; travel to Hawaii for the Chaminade Invitational where Soderstrom finished 22nd in the 8K with a time of 28:48.23; a member of the GNAC Championship team, finishing 74th in the 8K with a time of 30:22.40; recieved GNAC All-Academic Team Honors; recognized for Academic Honors by the Athletic Department.
2009 as a sophmore: At the Apple Ridge Run, Soderstrom finished 32nd in the 6K with a time of 6:10.2; Named to the GNAC All-Academic Team.
2008 as a freshman: Was a member of the GNAC Championship team that finished 6th in the Conference; a member of the team named GNAC Academic Team Champions.
Nordic Skiing
2011-12 as a senior: Started his senior season strong with a second place finish in the 5K Classic with a time of 13:48 and a fourth place finish in the 5K Freestyle with a time of 28:53 at the Nordic Cup...At the US Nationals in January, Soderstrom sprinted to a 29th finish in the 1.6K race with a time of 3:15.78...At the Hilltop Invitational Soderstrom finished first in the 1.4K...At the CCSA Championships, he placed second in the 20K Classic with a time of 1:02:40.2 and was also a part of the 3 by 5K relay team that also finished second...Finished the season in at the NCAA Central Regional Championships with a 15th place finish in the 10K in 26:25.50 and finished eighth in the 15K with a time of 41:17 to help the Nanooks finish second overall at the championships...Earned second team CCSA All-Conference Honors.
2010-11 as a junior: Soderstrom helped the Nanooks claim their fifth straight Nordic Cup with his 22nd place finish in the 8K Freestyle with a time of 32:34.8 and his 6th place finish in the 8K Classic with a time of 30:56.0; attended the US National Championships where he finished 35th in the 1.4K Classic Sprint in a time of 3:31.61, 43rd in the 15K Classic with a time of 46:58.6, and 53rd in the 30K Freestyle with a time of 1:19:26.2; at the CSSA Hilltop Invitational Soderstrom finished 10th in the 10K Freestyle with a time of 31:56.8 and 6th in the 10K Classic with a time of 31:57.2; at the Mayor's Challenge he was the second Nanook finisher with is 25:31.9 time in the 10K Freestyle, good for 17th overall, and 17th overall in the 15K Classic with a time of 40:57.4; helped the Nanooks place second at the CCSA Championships with a pair of 11th place finishes in the 10K and 20K races; at the Central Region Championships Soderstrom finished out his junior season with a 3rd place finish in the 10K Classic with a time of 27:59; was named to the USCSCA All-Academic Team and earned All-CCSA Second Team honors; recognized for Academic Honors by the Athletic Department.
2009-10 as a sophmore: Helped his team take first place in the Nordic Cup Relay Race; earned first place in the Classic Sprint Race at the U.S. Championships; took 10th place in the 15K Classic at the Mayor's Challenge; finished 10th in the CCSA Ski Championships 10K Classic.
2008-09 as a freshman: Had his best race of the season at the CCSA Regional Championships as he finished 11th in the 10K Classic; placed 11th at the Alaska Nordic Cup in the 10K Freestyle; was 31st overall in the 10K Classic at the Telemark SuperTour; 22nd place finish at Camp Ripley in the 20K Freestyle.
Prior to Alaska: Skied 13 seasons with Ostersunds Skidleparklubb in Ostersund, Sweden...Took first place for six consecutive years as a member of club relay team at Swedish championships...Finished 10th in the Swedish junior championship classic sprint in 2006...Took 22nd in Intersport Cup classic sprint in 2006...Skied three years at Palmcrantzskolan.
Personal: Son of Orjan Soderstrom and Karin Melin; currently majoring in Geography.
