Played one season with the Capitols in the USHL. He skated in 57 games and produced seven points on two goals and five assists. He skated in three postseason games for Madison. Before Madison, he played four seasons with the Humboldt Broncos in the SJHL. 

Humboldt Broncos (SJHL)
Played four seasons with the Broncos from 2019-23. In his final season with Humboldt, Barlage served as an alternate captain. His final two seasons were his best as he skated in 58 games in 2021-22 and posted a career-high 42 points on eight goals and 34 assists before skating in 54 games the following season and finishing with 36 points on six goals and 30 assists. In four seasons, he finished with 167 games played, 89 points, 15 goals, and 74 assists. He skated in 24 playoff games and recorded eight points (2-6--8) in three postseason runs.
