Biography

2010-11: Played in 26 games with the Nanooks his senior season; leads the team in faceoff percentage; first and only assist of the season was during the 1-1 tie against Michigan State Oct. 22; first and only goal of the season was during the 2-3 loss against Ferris State Feb. 6; recognized for Academic Honors by the Athletic Department.

2009-10: Played in 36 games; earned first assist of the season against Mercyhurst on Oct. 10; first goal of the saeson was scored against NMU on Nov. 27; had three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in the Governor’s Cup series win; tied in 2nd in the Conference for power play goals; had 18 games with at least one point, five being multi-point games.

2008-09: Played 34 games; had three assists against WMU on Feb. 14; on Oct. 17 scored against Mercyhurst College; scored in the UConn. game in the Kendall Classic; power play goal and assist in a 4-0 win against USNTDP U-18; goal and assist for Blue in the Blue and Gold game.

2007-08: Played in 34 of the Nanooks' 35 games this season; got first career point in first career game, setting up the game-tying goal against rival Anchorage; scored goals in three straight games form Nov. 23-Nov. 30; had first career multi-point game in 4-4 tie against UNO on Nov. 24; scored game-winning goal and assisted on another in 4-2 win over Ohio State on Jan. 4; had two assists in 3-2 win over Western Michigan on Feb. 2; scored goal in first game against UNO in opening round of CCHA playoffs; scored a goal and had seven shots in three career playoff games.

Prior to Alaska: Played five years for the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League; during the 2006-07 regular season, Sather scored 41 goals and 63 assists for 104 points with 59 penalty minutes in 58 season games; was selected to the starting lineup and was Assistant Captain of the AJHL North All Stars and won the Ernie Love Trophy as the AJHL scoring leader, the Alberta Old Time Hockey Players Trophy as AJHL Most Valuable Player, and the AJHL Source for Sports Cup for compiling the most Player-of-the-Game points during the season; in 2005-06, Sather had 31 goals and 54 assists for 85 points with 48 penalty minutes in 59 games; in 2004-05, he had 20 goals and 32 assists for 52 points in 61 games; in 2003-2004, he had 15 goals and 33 assists for 48 points in 56 games; as a rookie with the Storm (2002-03), he tallied 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points in 53 games; he holds the Grande Prairie career records for games played (287), goals (120), assists (203) and points (323); Sather was on the AJHL North Viking Cup gold medal team and was named Top Forward for Grande Prairie in 2005-06; he played in the AJHL All-Star game in 2005-06 and in the AJHL Prospects game in 2003-04 and 2004-05; Sather went straight to Junior A hockey from bantams; in 2001-02, he had 27 goals and 42 assists for 69 points with 34 penalty minutes in 35 games to lead the Grande Prairie Golden Arrow Storm, good for third in Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League scoring; was a member of the AMBHL North Division All-Star Team...in the 2000-01 AMBHL season, he had eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points with 20 penalty minutes in 31 games.

Personal: Son of Craig and Koreen Sather; younger brother D'Lane plays for the Sherwood Park in AJHL; currently majoring in Communication with a minor in Sports Management.
