FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks Nordic skiing team has officially announced the addition of Madelin Lowen to its roster for the 2026-27 season. Lowen joins the Nanooks from Dimond High School in Anchorage, Alaska.
"We're so excited that Madelin has chosen to continue her skiing career here at UAF!" said head coach Ben Buck. "She's been a consistent performer on Alaska's junior race circuit, showing steady growth and improvement over the past two seasons. Her top-20 finish in the 10k mass start at JNs this spring showed her grit and high-quality race mindset, and I look forward to her continued development in the Blue and Gold!"
Lowen skied on the Dimond HS team while also racing for the Alaska Winter Stars cross-country skiing team. This past season, she picked up multiple top-15 finishes in the Alaska Besh Cup series, placing 14th in the 10k freestyle on Dec. 21, 2025, taking 12th in the classic sprints on Jan. 31, 2026 and securing fifth place in the 15k freestyle on Feb. 2, 2026.
