MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – Dorka Dancsok followed up her podium finish in the 200-yard IM on Wednesday by taking the victory in the 400-yard IM on Thursday, setting a program record after she posted a 4:23.31 in the event. The Nanooks swimming team concluded day two of the PCSC Championships in fifth place, accumulating 383 points over the first two days of competition.
The finals began with the 200-yard freestyle relay, where the team of McKenzie Fazio, Kitti Marton, Giorgia Merlo and Mariia Sirotinskaia placed 10th after posting a 1:40.20. Merlo followed by finishing 21st in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a 59:27 in the C Final.
Up next was the 400-yard IM, where Dancsok would break the program record she set during the UNLV Invite in December by over a second. Cosima Schmiedel also swam in the A Final of the event, finishing seventh with a 4:32.94, while Charisma Watkins posted a 4:42.07 in the B Final of the 400 IM to take 16th.
Ali Pecore and McKenzie Fazio were the two Nanooks to swim in the finals of the 200-yard freestyle, and they would both grab podium finishes. Pecore placed second after swimming to a 1:51.75, and Fazio followed in third, touching the wall in 1:52.02. Both times were good for NCAA B Cuts.
The day concluded with the 400-yard medley relay, where the team of Fazio, Dancsok, Schmiedel and Pecore placed fourth with a time of 3:48.66.
The 'Nooks are back on Friday, Feb. 13, for day three of the PCSC Championships.
