Nanooks Fall in Game Two Against Lindenwood

FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks fell to Lindenwood on Saturday, Jan. 24. The 7-4 loss drops the 'Nooks to 7-14-2 on the year. 

How it Happened
Alaska began the game strong. Nathan Rickey picked up the first goal 6:40 into the opening period. Jackson Anderson earned the primary while Cade Ahrenholz picked up his first point of the season with the secondary. 10:30 later, the Nanooks took a 2-0 lead on a Michael Citara goal. Misha Danylov and Hugo Marcil picked up the assists and the lead stuck into the second period. 

1:09 into the second period, Lindenwood pulled to within one on a Jacob Delaney goal. Just under two minutes later, the Lions struck again on a Giovanni Morneau power-play goal. Tommy Cronin answered back to regain the lead for Alaska. Jhett Larson picked up the lone assist on Cronin's goal. Jake Southgate of Lindenwood scored less than two minutes later making it 3-3 heading into the third. Unfortunately, Lindenwood posted four goals in the third, including two empty-netters to take a 7-3 advantage. 

19:03.0 into the third period Cade Ahrenholz scored for the Nanooks to make it a 7-4 final score. 

Inside the Numbers
  • Both sides scored on the power play. The Nanooks went 1-9 on the power play tonight and 4-6 on the penalty kill. 
  • Cade Ahrenholz picked up a two-point night, earning his first points of the season after missing the first half of the year. 
  • Nine Nanooks earned one point tonight. 
  • Lassi Lehti made 20 saves in net tonight. Alaska put 35 shots on net tonight. 
  • Rylen Roersma led the Nanooks with 10 wins in the faceoff circle. Chase Dafoe followed with nine wins in 13 bouts. 
What's Next
The Nanooks remain at home next weekend and welcome the LIU Sharks for a pair of games at the Carlson Center.
