Nanooks Swimming Welcomes Westmont for Final Home Meets of the Season

FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks swimming team is set for a pair of dual meets vs. Westmont this weekend, taking on the Warriors on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Saturday's meet is Senior Day, where the Nanooks will honor their seniors in their final home meet of the season.

Last Time Out
The Nanooks were in Hawaii last Friday for a dual meet against the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine, falling 139-65 to move to 4-3 in dual meets this season. Dorka Dancsok notched a pair of individual second-place results during the meet, taking second in the 200-yard IM with a 2:07.60 and the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:23.64. McKenzie Fazio also recorded two podium results, posting a 24.67 in the 50-yard freestyle and a 1:00.03 in the 100-yard backstroke for two third-place finishes.

  • Dorka Dancsok leads the PCSC in the 200-yard breaststroke, setting a time of 2:18.81 at the NW Collegiate Invite. That time puts her 35th in Division II. Additionally, she ranks second in the conference in the 50-yard breaststroke (30.16) and 200-yard IM (2:04.02), and has the third-best times in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.07) and 400-yard IM (4:24.90). Her 200 and 400-yard IM times rank 20th and 12th in the nation, respectively. Furthermore, her 4:24.90 is a new program record for the 400 IM.
  • Janci Pangburn currently ranks eighth and seventh in the PCSC in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle, recording times of 23.94 and 52.44 at the NW Collegiate Invite.
  • McKenzie Fazio has the fourth-best PCSC time in the 100-yard freestyle with a 51.96 and the seventh-best time in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:53.68. She ranks fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (57.23) and fifth in the 50-yard backstroke (26.78).
  • Kitti Marton sits third and fourth in the PCSC in the 1650 and 1000-yard freestyle, respectively, with times of 17:46.40 and 10:38.35.
  • Cosima Schmiedel has recorded the sixth-best PCSC times in both the 50-yard butterfly (26.64) and 400-yard IM (4:32.46). Her 2:06.77 in the 200-yard butterfly ranks fourth in the conference.
  • The PCSC announced that Dorka Dancsok earned the PCSC Week 12 Female Swimmer of the Week after her school-record time in the 400-yard IM.

  • The Warriors began 2026 by taking first at the Chris Knorr Invitational, hosted by Cal Lutheran on Jan. 2, finishing with 802 points to beat Cal Lutheran and Concordia Irvine. They then took part in a quad-meet vs. Biola (L, 166-64), The Master's (L, 108.5-95.5) and Concordia Irvine (W, 118.5-73.5) on Jan. 7.
  • They have picked up two other dual wins this season, defeating Fresno Pacific 186-75 on Nov. 1 and Concordia 197-36 in another double-dual on Dec. 6.


Looking Ahead
The Nanooks head to Monterey Park, Calif., next month for the PCSC Championships. The Championships will run from Wednesday, Feb. 11, through Saturday, Feb. 14, at the ELAC Pool.
