FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks Nordic skiing team has announced the signing of Kolibri Drobish. Drobish, a New Denver, B.C. native, will join the 'Nooks from Northern Michigan University.
"We are very excited that Kolibri has chosen to continue her athletic career as a graduate student in Fairbanks!" said assistant coach Ben Buck. "She will bring experience and maturity to a very young team, and after missing the majority of her last two seasons at NMU due to injury, our eyes are set on helping her achieve a comeback year."
Drobish has spent the past three seasons with the NMU Wildcats Nordic skiing team. In 2022-23, she earned All-CCSA Second Team honors and was a member of the All-Region First Team for the 20k classic, placing fifth in the race at the NCAA Central Regional Skiing Championships. She also placed 10th in the 5k freestyle at the regional championships that year. In 2023-24, Drobish finished sixth in the 20k classic and ninth in the 7.5k freestyle at the CCSA Championships and followed that with two sixth-place results 7.5k freestyle and 20k classic at the Central Regional Skiing Championships. At last season's U.S. Nationals, Drobish took 51st in the classic sprint and 55th in the 20k classic.
Drobish is the daughter of Kip and Marcy and intends to pursue her master's in Wildlife Biology and Conservation at UAF.
Further additions to the squad will be announced shortly.
