FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team has announced the addition of Kyle Miller. Miller, a 5-9, 174lb defenseman, has committed to the 'Nooks after three seasons with the St. Cloud Norsemen in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
"Kyle [Miller] plays with an edge and defends hard, while also having the skill to contribute offensively," Said head coach Erik Largen. "Off the ice, he brings leadership and maturity beyond his years." Miller, a native of San Jose, Calif., played all three seasons in the NAHL with the St. Cloud Norsemen, earning the 'C' in 2024-25, his final season. His first season, 2022-23, saw him skate in 18 games but not pick up a point. He took a big step forward in year two, playing in 59 games and posting 42 points on nine goals and 33 helpers. Year three, as the captain, he posted a career year in 59 appearances. He scored a career-high 13 goals and 53 assists for 66 points 1.11 points per game.
His performance in 2024-25 earned him a spot on the NAHL (Central) All-Star Team and NAHL First All-Star Team. In 136 career games with St. Cloud, Miller scored 22 goals, assisted 86 times and had 108 points, good for 0.79 per game.
Miller intends on studying economics at UAF and is the sixth newcomer announced for the Nanooks incoming class. He is the second defenseman announced (Jackson Anderson).
