EAST MEADOW, New York - The Nanooks ended their 2024-25 season 12-14-6 on Saturday, March 1. Alaska dropped their finale 2-0 at LIU.
How it Happened
The Sharks tallied the two goals in the game. Their first came 9:12 into the first while on the power play. The 1-0 lead came on LIU's first power play of the night. The Nanooks had three power-play opportunities on the night, all coming in the first and second period. Unfortunately, the Sharks kept them off the board and in the third added an empty-net goal 18:11 into the final stanza. Carter Rapalje tallied both goals for LIU.
Alaska managed to kill the final three power-play looks LIU had, but the first goal proved to be the game-winner.Â
Inside the Numbers
- Alaska was 3-4 on the penalty kill but 0-3 on the power play.Â
- Nicholas Grabko made 20 saves in net for the Nanooks. He allowed the one goal in the first before making 17 saves in the remaining two periods.Â
- William Lawson-Body went 11-8 in the faceoff circle to lead the Nanooks. Chase Dafoe also finished .500-plus, going 10-7 in faceoff bouts tonight.Â
- The Nanooks puts 32 shots-on-goal today. Eight in the first, 14 in the second, and 10 in the third.
- The Nanooks blocked seven shots and had three skaters block two shots each. Adam Cardona, Chase Dafoe, and Bryce Monrean all blocked a pair. Kyle Gaffney grabbed the other block.
