MINTURN, Colo. - The Nanooks Nordic skiing teams concluded the Denver Invitational on Sunday, racing in a 10k freestyle pursuit. The Nanooks finished the invite with 185 points, putting them fifth in the Nordic standings and seventh overall. The men grabbed 133 points over the weekend, which put them fifth overall and fourth in Nordic. They finished two points behind Utah, who took third in the men's Nordic standings with 135 points. The women tallied 52 points, putting them ninth overall and fifth in Nordic.
The women were without several skiers as they were competing in the U23 World Championships. Aila Berrigan was the only skier for the Nanook women to race in the 10k freestyle, as she came in with a 10k time of 35:00.1, putting her 21st after placing 23rd in the 7.5k classic yesterday. She gained the Nanooks 18 points to put their total for the weekend at 52. Her total time of 1:05:45.3 was 1.7 seconds behind the 20th-place finisher.
Philipp Moosmayer skied his way up from a 10th-place finish in the 7.5k classic to an eighth-place overall result after his 10k freestyle. He finished the 10k in 26:29.9 to give him a combined time of 50:17.6, earning 25 points. Ben Dohlby recorded the 13th-fastest time in the 10k freestyle with a 26:58.8, putting him 12th overall over the two events after skiing to an eighth-place finish yesterday. He posted a cumulative time of 50:38.0, picking up 21 points for the 'Nooks. After finishing 13th in the 7.5k classic, Aidan Hay notched the 14th-fastest time in today's race, crossing the line in 26:59.5. That mark put him 15th overall for the weekend, as his 51:06.4 helped gain the team 19 points. Finally, Matyas Pavek maintained his spot in 17th place from his race on Saturday, completing the race in 27:58.3 for a time of 52:33.9 over the two events this weekend.
