Alaska Falls in Saturday Contest at Central Washington

ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Nanooks men's basketball team fell to the Central Washington Wildcats on Saturday afternoon, dropping to 9-13, 5-8 GNAC with the 92-75 loss.

How it Happened
Alaska opened up a 12-9 lead after the opening 5:38, with Ketan Sidhu knocking down a three to put the 'Nooks ahead. CWU responded with six unanswered points, but Isaiah Saams-Hoy and Jackson Krug put the Nanooks back in front with a jumper and three-ball, respectively. However, a 10-0 run saw the Wildcats establish a 25-17 advantage just past the halfway mark of the first period. A three-point play conversion from Chris Lee got the 'Nooks back to within four, and Paul Johnson and Saams-Hoy notched a three and a layup to close out the half, but Alaska entered the break trailing 44-39.

The Wildcats began the second on a 10-4 run, bringing their lead to 11. Sidhu followed by scoring Alaska's next eight points, connecting on two three-pointers and a layup, but the Blue & Gold still trailed 60-51. Johnson sank a three to cut the deficit to six, and a Saams-Hoy layup made it a five-point ballgame, but the Nanooks could not get any closer, and they eventually fell by 17.
