Nanooks Head to the Midwest for Final PRC Test and Conference Championships

FAIRBANKS - The Nanooks rifle team will have it's final PRC conference test at Ohio State with Air Force and the Buckeyes before competing at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships over the weekend.

The Nanooks are fresh off of a historic showing at home against Kentucky on Feb. 1, 2025. Alaska posted a program record for the second-straight weekend after setting a new aggregate record on Jan. 26, 2025 against Air Force. On Feb. 1, Alaska fired a 4757-4740 win over the No. 3-ranked Wildcats, improving to 11-1, 6-1 PRC. They were led by Cecelia Ossi, who shot a new Nanooks individual aggregate record with a score of 1196. She posted a 599 in air rifle and tied the Nanooks smallbore record with a 597 showing. Sára Karasová followed with an 1187 and Rachael Charles also had an 1187. Lucie Kissenberger (1185), Teagan Perkowski (1185), and Elli Spencer (1181) were the final Nanooks in the top 10.

  • Alaska is averaging an aggregate score of 4741.4 this season, good for second in the nation, trailing only West Virginia (4742.5).
  • The Nanooks are second in the nation in smallbore (2354.6), trailing WVU (2356.3). The two teams are the only teams averaging over 2350 on the season. In air rifle, the Nanooks lead the nation with an average of 2386.8. WVU follows with an average of 2386.2.
  • Cecelia Ossi's 1196 aggregate was not only a new Nanooks record, but it was the highest aggregate score shot in the NCAA this season. Three scores of 1194 have been scored and are tied for second. Ossi held the previous season-high for Alaska with an 1192. 
  • Two Nanooks are in the top-10 aggregate averages in the NCAA. Ossi is seventh with an aggregate average of 1186.0. Sára Karasová is 10th with an average aggregate of 1184.75.
  • Elli Spencer is the only Nanooks shooter in the top-10 for average air rifle score this season. She's currently fifth in the nation with an average of 596.9. She's fired one 600 this season; it came on Jan. 26 in the Nanooks' win over Air Force.
  • Ossi is leading the way in smallbore for the Nanooks with an average score of 590.1. This places her sixth in the nation. Karasová follows in 10th with an average of 588.875.

The Nanooks currently sit at No. 2 in the latest CRCA Top-20. They trail only West Virginia.

PRC Championships
With the addition of Ole Miss earlier this season, the PRC now has seven teams; Air Force, Alaska, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, TCU, and UTEP. Organized in 2012, the PRC is home to 15 national titles (Alaska - 11, TCU - 4). All seven teams will be at The X Count competing in the Championships. TCU has won the last two, claiming the 2023 and 2024 titles. The Nanooks last won the PRC Championship in 2022, their third-ever PRC Championship. TCU has won seven championships, followed by Alaska's three and Air Force's one. 

What's to Come
Following the Nanooks trip to Ohio and the PRC Championships, they will head to UTEP on Feb. 22 for their NCAA Qualifier. Following their Qualifier, they'll wrap up the season at the 2025 NCAA Rifle Championships in Lexington, Ky.
