CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Alaska Nanooks women's basketball continued its week of exhibition play in Oregon on Sunday evening, taking on the Oregon State Beavers in Gill Coliseum in front of 1,800 fans. The Nanooks fell to the Beavers, 104-27, in their final preseason exhibition.
The Nanooks went 11-62 from the field and 2-29 from deep during the contest, knocking down three of their six free throw attempts. Five of the Nanook's points came via the fast break, and they managed six points off of takeaways. They posted 14 points in the third quarter, their highest mark of the game.
Chozen Horn-Young led the way with seven points for the Nanooks, going 2-6 from the field, 1-3 from beyond the arc and converting both attempts from the charity stripe. She tied for the team lead in assists with Alycia Shelley, as the two guards both dished two assists on the evening. Amelia Brady finished the contest with six points on 3-12 shooting and grabbed eight boards, tying for the team lead with Ashlyn Waggoner.
Genevieve Velasquez contributed off the bench for the 'Nooks, posting four points on 2-6 shooting while collecting a team-leading four steals.
What's Next
The Nanooks officially kick off their 2025-26 season on Friday, Nov. 14, when they take on Hawaii Hilo in the opening game of the North Star Invitational, presented by Mt. McKinley Bank. The invitational will feature Alaska, Hawaii Hilo and The Master's in a three-day invite on Nov. 14-16, with one game per day.
