How it Happened
The Nanooks battled back after falling behind early. In the first, Wisconsin posted 18 shots on goal and took a 3-0 lead after the opening 20 minutes. Simon Tassy scored the first of the night on the power play 6:45 into the first. 14:10 into the first, Wisconsin added another on the power play, this time Kyle Kukkonen scored. With 7.6 seconds left in the first, the Badgers picked up their third in the first with a Joe Palodichuk goal.

3:20 into the second period, Rylen Roersma picked up his first-career goal to get the Nanooks on the board. Peyton Platter earned the lone assist. 5:09 later, the Nanooks pulled within one at 3-2 on a Chase Dafoe goal. Davis Borozinskis picked up the lone assist on Dafoe's goal.

In the third, Alaska put the pressure on, but while on a power play at the midway point of the third they allowed a short-handed goal to Jack Horbach. Down 4-2, the Nanooks pulled the goalie with over five minutes remaining. 15:08 into the third, they found the back of the net with the extra attacker. Michael Citara pinged the post and after a scramble in the crease, Alexander Malinowski was awarded the goal to pull the 'Nooks to within one again. This time at 4-3. Unfortunately, they could not find the equalizer down the stretch, eventually giving up an empty-net goal with 47.2 seconds left for a 5-3 final.
